Goa’s Commitment to Inclusivity and Excellence

The Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, leads the event’s organization. The State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Goa Chess Association for Persons with Disabilities, and the Chess Federation for Physically Disabled collaborate closely. Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai chairs the organizing committee. The championship integrates with Goa’s ‘Purple Fest,’ a platform to empower disabled individuals. Trophies will honor the top three federations based on gold, silver, and bronze medals across men’s, women’s, juniors’, and girls’ categories. The event underscores Goa’s dedication to inclusive sports. The championship will feature advanced accessibility measures, ensuring all players can compete comfortably. FIDE’s official website notes that this event marks a milestone in promoting para-chess globally, with over 50% of participants being first-time competitors at this level.
