Delft witnessed a thrilling display of chess mastery as Grandmaster Anish Giri emerged victorious at the 24th edition of the OGD Tournament, held on March 15th, 2025. This year’s event, hosted at the OGD headquarters in Rotterdamseweg, attracting a diverse field of 150 players across three sections, including seven Grandmasters.

OGD’s Commitment to Chess
The tournament, a staple in the Dutch chess calendar, was collaborated with OGD ICT services, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering the chess community. The generous prize fund of 3000 euros, with a first prize of 1000 euros, further underscored the tournament’s significance.

Players from across the region gathered at the OGD headquarters, ready to test their skills in a rapid format. The seven-round tournament, played with a time control of 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment, ensured fast-paced and exciting games. The action commenced at 3:00 PM and continued until 10:30 PM, providing a full day of intense competition.
Giri’s Dominant Performance
The top seed, GM Anish Giri, lived up to expectations, delivering a stellar performance and securing victory with an impressive score of 6.5 out of 7. His dominance showcased his exceptional talent and solidified his reputation as one of the world’s leading chess players.
